PLANS to open a cake shop and tearoom in the Shearbridge area have been refused because of the parking issues they would cause.
An application by a Mr Mohammed to turn an industrial unit on Summerville Road (pictured) to the cake shop and cafe, complete with fireplace and grand piano, was thrown out by Bradford Council last week.
The application said the business would manufacturer and sells cakes and macaroons.
There had been several objections to the application, including from Shearbridge Residents Association, which said: “parking is already a serious issue on this road.”
Planning officers said: “The proposed use would lead to an increase in on-street parking in an area where parking problems already exist which will likely result in conflicts between local residents and customers.”
