THE rate of pregnancy among teenagers across the Bradford district has fallen to its lowest level, according to the latest figures released by the Office for National Statistics.

It continues a trend which has seen the conception rate per 1,000 girls aged under 18 fall by 61 per cent since 1998.

Bradford has the second lowest rate in West Yorkshire, but remains above the England and Wales rate of 21 conceptions per 1,000.

In 2015 there was a rate of 22.3 conceptions for every 1,000 girls aged under 18 compared to 27.2 in 2014 and 51.6 in 2005.

Cllr Val Slater, Bradford Council’s deputy leader and portfolio holder for health and social care, said: “This is great news for a wide range of organisations across the district who continue to work together and with teenagers to achieve these results. Teachers, health practitioners, youth workers, carers and parents have all taken the responsibility to ensure our teenagers get the right support and advice.”
