A crowd of Bradford Council staff gathered in City Park just before 9.30pm, including Lord Mayor Councillor Geoff Reid.
Just before the minute’s silence Cllr Reid said: “We all know why we are here. We have all heard what happened at Westminster yesterday. This was a tragedy, and the police are looking carefully at what happened.
“At this time we need to recognise the commitment of our police and security services.
“This was not a high tech terror attack. It all happened with a car and a knife.
“It was an attack on democracy, the same way the murder of Jo Cox was an attack on democracy.”
During the minute’s silence there were two armed police officers patrolling City Park.
