Shipley Town 1 Ilkley Dynamo 2

DYNAMO reached the final of the Wharfedale & District FA Machell's Sunday Cup after a hard-fought contest against Shipley Town at Esholt.

On a blustery day with the rain cascading down, the visitors had to defend hard in the early stages to get control.

Sam Webster and Oli Blair were dominant in a Dynamo rearguard which had to battle against a strong wind.

A powerful cross from the skilful Lee McGowan found Danny Williams unmarked. He had time to make a touch before lashing a shot into the net to make it 1-0.

Both sides had half chances with Struan Connor and Dom Grimes showing a good intensity in a fluent Dynamo midfield.

The visitors continued to show a more attacking threat as the home side had difficulty in dealing with the pace and invention of Danny Bryan.

After one impressive weaving run he hit a powerful low shot into the corner to give Dynamo a 2-0 lead.

Quick reactions from Sam Westerman helped Dynamo defend defiantly as Shipley tried to salvage something from the game.

They grabbed a lifeline when Lee Newall pulled a goal back late on to make it 2-1. Dynamo continued with stout resistance in an evenly-balanced final quarter. Shipley did eventually find the net gain but were denied a controversial leveller was ruled it out for an infringement.

An elated Dynamo team had held on to reach the final after some late pressure from Shipley.
