PLANNERS say a large sign installed on the side of a listed building is “significantly detrimental” to the building.
Bradford Council has refused the retrospective planning application for a canvas advertisement on the side of 1 Mount Royd in Manningham, submitted by J Ashraf.
The Lockwood and Mawson designed Victorian villa, off Manningham Lane, and in a conservation area, has been described by heritage officers as “highly significant.”
Planning officers said: “The banner advertisement is significantly detrimental to the character of this important and prominent listed building. Its location, size and materials are wholly discordant with the historic character of the building and the application contains no justification or balancing public benefit which could be considered to offset the significant harm identified.”
