A YEAR-long arts and activism project will begin with an event in a city centre on Monday.

Power Up Creative Resistance is an "action research" project that will look at some of the most pressing issues of the modern world, from Brexit to poverty. On Monday members of the public will be invited to come together to discuss which issues the project should tackle, and how.

The launch event, called Power Up Play Space has been organised by Jean Mcewan (pictured) from Wur Bradford, and is described as an interactive exhibition featuring art and music.

The project, which lasts until December, has been funded by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation through the University of Bradford’s ‘Thinkspace’ group from Peace Studies department.

People of all ages have been invited to take part in the event, and help shape the project moving forward.

The opening event takes place in the old Boots store on Bank Street, which has become arts space called Rebooted. It runs from 5.30pm to 8.30pm.
