THE UK’s first takeaway inside a supermarket opens tomorrow at a Morrisons store in Bradford.
Bombay Bites Express, a family-run Bradford business that is part of the Bombay Stores empire, will employ ten people at Morrisons’ Victoria Shopping Centre base. Morrisons and Bombay Bites have teamed with online takeaway delivery firm Just Eat for the venture.
Samir Kader, director at Bombay Bites, said: “We are thrilled that we have the opportunity to partner with large and trusted brands such as Morrisons and Just Eat, so we can really bring something new into the food industry.”
People can eat in-store or pick up their order at the end of their shop. The menu will be available on Just Eat.
Bombay Bites Express will open 8am to 8pm Monday to Saturday, and 9.30am to 4pm on Sundays. Its menu, including breakfasts, curries and desserts, is by Samir’s mother, Sabra.
Rebecca Singleton, of Morrisons, said: “We have listened to the customers who told us they’d love a takeaway service as an extra reason to shop with us.”
