THE Canal and River Trust is bidding for Heritage Lottery Fund cash to finance a five-year partnership project to help improve the flood resilience of the Calder Valley region.
The project, entitled Calder Valley Rising, will add to work being done by the Environment Agency and Calderdale Council to create a more integrated approach to the management of water and land.
Jane Thomson, of the Trust, said: “There is a real urgency to deliver change and help the Calder Valley communities to become more resilient in future extreme natural events.”
The area was badly affected by Boxing Day floods in 2015 (pictured).
