BRADFORD Disability Football Club has received a donation of £1,000 from a Bradford housebuilder.

The club has been handed the money by Persimmon Homes through its Community Champions scheme.

The club allows people of all ages who have a disability to take part in regular sport and make new friends.

Jayne Winn, fundraising officer for the club, said: “We are extremely grateful to Persimmon for such a generous donation.

“The funds Persimmon have donated will go towards paying for our new venue hire at Keighley College as well as the costs of hiring FA qualified coaches to lead the sessions.

“For some of our members the training sessions at Bradford College are the only opportunity they have to socialise each week so our aim is make them easier to access."

Wayne Gradwell, managing director at Persimmon Homes West Yorkshire, said: “Supporting groups such as Bradford Disability Football Club is exactly what Community Champions is about.

“We know how important the club is to members of the Bradford community and we wanted to help out in any way we could.

"We know this donation will go towards getting more youngsters involved in sport which will only further benefit their health both mentally and physically."
