AN event to commemorate International Women’s Day is taking place in Bradford this week.

The event is taking place at Parkside Community Centre, in Avenue Road, West Bowling, on Thursday, March 9, between 11.30am and 3.30pm.

It will be opened by the Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Geoff Reid, and is open to both men and women.

The day will feature talks, workshops, displays, discussions, food and networking opportunities and face painting for children.

It has been organised through the Peacemaker International (PI) charity and Women in Safe Hands (WISH).

PI works toward conflict resolution through mediation, skills development, mentoring and befriending.

It also offers support to domestic abuse survivors and their children.
