KEIGHLEY'S Girlguiding movement turned out in force for its annual Thinking Day celebration.

Members took part in a parade and packed into Keighley Shared Church for a service.

The parade, between Town Hall Square and the church, was led by the City of Bradford Pipe Band.

Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and leaders all took part in yesterday's (Feb 26) celebration.

Guests at the service included Deputy Lieutenant of West Yorkshire David Pearson, Keighley town mayor Councillor Shabir Ahmed, deputy Lord Mayor of Bradford Cllr Alun Griffiths and Girlguiding county and division representatives.

A welcome was given by team rector, the Rev Mike Cansdale.

Several awards were presented.

The Sarah Robinson Award, given annually for an outstanding contribution to Girlguiding in Keighley, went to Lynn Stow.

She has held various roles over the years, including twice serving as district commissioner in the Worth Valley.

A number of other awards were also handed out, including long-service accolades.

And tribute was paid to Kay Bolton, who is stepping down as division commissioner, a post she has held since 2011.

She was praised for all she had done and presented with bouquets.

"Thank you for all your kind words but it is very much a team effort," Mrs Bolton told the congregation.

"Lots of people make up that team to ensure Guiding is the success it is in Keighley."

Girls from the Worth Valley district gave a presentation about the 30th anniversary of the Rainbow section.

And all members of the movement renewed their promises.

A collection taken during the service will be split between the Shared Church and Airedale Hospital children's ward.
