MALE staff and students at a Bradford school have taken part in a painful charity fundraising event.

Around 20 staff and 10 pupils from Immanuel College in Thackley took part in the charity leg wax during their lunch break today.

As well as collecting sponsorship to have their leg hair removed with hot wax, pupils at the school paid a small amount to watch the painful ordeal.

The event was organised by the school’s Post 16 enrichment group, formed last year to get pupils more involved in charity events. Money raised on the day will go towards charity Cash for Kids, which helps disadvantaged young people.

While some of those taking part opted for a single wax strip, others had an entire leg waxed in front of pupils.

Joanne Weldings, Assistant Head, said: “It is wonderful to see so many staff and students working together to raise funds for charity and for such a good cause. It is quite a commitment from the students and teachers having their legs waxed – ouch! All for a very good cause.”
