SIR – Regarding the headline ‘Go West’ (T&A, February 20)  about the proposal to build an extension from the M65 at Colne to connect with the Aire Valley road at Cross Hills to ease the traffic on the M62, my map states this whole area is within Lancashire and North Yorkshire, nothing to do with Bradford councillors.

It would though be a good idea to do this, along with ideas to reopen the rail line from Skipton towards Bradford.

As for the motorways, if one is stuck in a jam on the M62 no-one is going to divert 30-odd miles to the M65 to get to Keighley/Bradford. They will stay where they are and wait.

The M65 is the ideal route for Bradford folk going to such places as Blackpool and around Manchester.

I suggest they stop sticking their noses into somebody else’s problems and do something about our roads, such as extend the M606 through the city, and link it up with the Bingley bypass. Also put a dual carriageway along Tong Street to link up with the Drighlington bypass to the M62 at Gildersome.

We don’t have a proper ring road, maybe we should have a bypass also.
