VISITORS to a Bradford library this half term would have had the chance to peruse some works by primary school pupils.

The Allerton Primary School pupils had created the books, their own spins on We're Going on a Bear Hunt, that were put on display in City Library.

The children, aged four and five, had been reading the popular book the previous half term, and the story was brought to life when a "bear" came into their classroom, an incident the children investigated using CCTV cameras.

The children were asked to come up with their own version of the story, with variations like We're Going on a Lion Hunt, and creating their own story books.

Class teacher Jenny McHale said she hoped the link with the library would mean pupils use it on a more regular basis, adding: "Children had been going into the library for story telling sessions, and this will encourage them and other children to go to the library over half term to look at the books."
