A TEENAGER helped steal a trolley-full of supermarket shopping so he could get £20 to visit his ill mum, a court heard.
Bradford Crown Court was told Luke Lanham was offered the money in exchange for pushing the trolley, with £220-worth of items in, out of a Morrisons.
The 19-year-old, of Leeds Road, Bradford, pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to theft. The offence, on January 16, put Lanham in breach of a suspended sentence he received in October for dangerous driving.
Prosecutor Alisha Kay said another man offered cash to Lanham. Both were stopped outside the store by staff.
Gerald Hendron, for Lanham, said: “His mum was ill in hospital and he was anxious to get money to go and visit her.”
Lanham got a 12-month conditional discharge and a two-month extension to a curfew.
