A SPECIAL screening of short films written, produced and directed by debutant film-makers aged 60 years old and over is taking place in Ilkley on Monday, February 27.

The group of film-loving pensioners have created a series of original, innovative short films, thanks to the support of a film-making project called Cinage, Film-making for Active Ageing.

The group of novices received support from the Northern Film School to create their films, which will be shown between 11am and 1.30pm on Monday.

The screening will take place at Ilkley Boutique Cinema, in Church Street, which boasts the smallest 4K cinema screen in Europe, and will be free to attend.

Following the screenings, there will be a question and answer session with the first-time film-makers, who will discuss their experiences on the Cinage project.

Cinage is a trans-national project supported by the European Union’s Lifelong Learning Programme, which aims to empower older people to achieve a more active ageing.

As well as in Ilkley, other Cinage projects have taken place across Europe, in cities such as Lisbon in Portugal, Foligno in Italy and Ljubljana in Slovenia.
