FIVE men armed with weapons stole a van and demanded cash after forcing their way into a house during a robbery in Heckmondwike.

The incident happened on Sunday, between 7pm and 8pm, at a property on Bevor Crescent.

Detectives said that when the suspects entered the house they were armed with weapons and demanded money. They stole keys to the victim's white Ford Transit van and left the property, driving off in the vehicle.

Police have released descriptions of four of the suspects.

The first robber was black or mixed race, stocky and 6ft tall. He was wearing a balaclava, a black bomber jacket which had a small logo on it, and dark-coloured trousers.

The second was black or mixed race, of big build, and wearing a balaclava and dark-coloured top.

Another of the robbers was white, of big build, and wearing a balaclava and a grey jacket.

The fourth robber was Asian, 5ft 6in tall, slim, and was wearing a balaclava and a grey jacket.

Detective Oliver Coates, of Huddersfield CID, said: "Thankfully the victim of this incident was left uninjured, but understandably very distressed by these suspects forcing entry into his home.

"I would like to appeal to members of the public who may have been in the area and may have witnessed anything suspicious or recognise any of the these descriptions to come forward and assist us with our investigation."
