FIRE crews have been dealing with a blaze in the kitchen area of a restaurant in Bradford today.
Engines from Odsal, Bradford and Fairweather Green were sent to My Lahore restaurant and cafe, in Great Horton Road, next to Bradford College, shortly before 11am.
The fire appeared to have started in the kitchen area at the rear of the building, taking hold in the space between an extraction unit and the ceiling of the kitchen.
Two upstairs flats were evacuated.
Firefighters said that people were working in the kitchen at the time the fire started, and the above flats were also occupied, but fire alarms gave plenty of notice to leave before the fire took hold.
After putting out the blaze, crews used fans to clear the premises of smoke.
The fire led to the floor of a first floor bathroom having to be removed, and the extractor will need replacing. The two flats suffered smoke damage, and the seating area of the restaurant also suffered minor smoke damage.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
