OUTDOOR activities for schoolchildren are being staged during the half-term holidays.

The programme is part of a series of winter events organised by Keighley social enterprise Get Out More.

On Friday, February 17, there is creative writing at St Ives, Harden, from 9.30am to 12.30pm.

A forest school takes place in the grounds of Riddlesden St Mary's Primary School on February 20 and 21, for children aged seven to 11.

It will include games, den building, woodland crafts and a campfire.

And a forest school will also be held at St Ives on February 23 and 24.

Get Out More is running an Outdoor Adventure Club programme, funded by the Big Lottery Awards for All.

Activities are planned at venues including Park Wood, on March 4.

Annie Berrington, Get Out More managing director, said: "In winter it's tempting for children to spend all their time indoors watching TV and playing on computers, but it's important to get some fresh air and exercise for health and wellbeing.

"The aim of the Outdoor Adventure Club is to encourage children and young people to get out more, meet new people and enjoy being outdoors whatever the weather."
