A BRADFORD car dealership is celebrating its most profitable year in its nine-year-history.

Clive Brook Volvo Ltd exceeded a turnover of £40 million in 2016 at its dealerships in Canal Road, Bradford, which accounted for £26.5 million of sales, and, more recently, Huddersfield.

In comparison, the Bradford site saw a turnover of £20 million in 2015.

The dealership sold over 1,350 cars in 2016, 540 of them in Bradford.

This news complements the Swedish manufacturer’s growing popularity as Volvo Car Uk celebrates its most successful sales figures in 25 years.

Clive Brook Volvo’s managing director, Clive Brook, said: “We have positioned ourselves as ‘the Volvo experts and the natural choice for everything Volvo in West Yorkshire’ and for good reason following our outstanding 2016 sales achievements.

“Almost every department in the company grew its sales over 2015 results, with some notable over-achievements in after-sales, which averaged a 16 per cent increase year-on-year.”

Mr Brook began his career in the trade as an apprentice Volvo technician with Olap Olsens, in Huddersfield.

He worked his way up in the dealership after it became Jansens and ended his time there as sales manager.

In 2007 he bought the struggling Harratts site, in Canal Road, after taking the brave decision to go on his own.

His team transformed the dealership into one of Volvo UK’s best performing sites by enjoying a record breaking first seven years.

Winning consecutive Trading Standards awards for excellence in customer service gave him the courage to take on another Harratts site, this time in Leeds Road, Huddersfield, which he did almost two years ago.

Mr Brook added: “On behalf of the company, I’d like to personally thank both staff and customers for their continued support in 2016 as none of what we have achieved would have been possible without them.”

Jon Wakefield, managing director of Volvo Car UK, said: “2016 was a superb year for everyone at Volvo. We sold more than 46,600 cars in the UK for the first time in 25 years and increased our market share – and with another exciting year of new technologically advanced and stunning Volvos coming in 2017, we’re confident this positive momentum will continue.”
