A BRADFORD gallery has been holding lantern making classes as part of a six month series of exhibitions looking at Chinese culture.

Hong Kong based photographer Kurt Tong will visit Impressions Gallery for a reception on Thursday. His work is currently hanging in the gallery as part of the exhibition The Queen, The Chairman and I.

Before the piece he will be talking about his images, which include vintage family photos as well as pictures of modern China, and “weaving threads” through the gallery.

The gallery, in City Park, has been holding a number of Chinese themed events as part of the exhibition, including a lantern making workshop on Saturday where families were invited to come along to take part in craft sessions as well as visiting the exhibition.

A tea room has also been set up in the gallery, and there will be several tea ceremonies next month.

The Making Links event starts at 4.30pm, and the artist reception starts at 6pm.

Tong’s exhibition runs until March 18, and will be followed by Yan Wang Preston’s Mother River.
