THE M606 motorway has fully reopened after a large paint spillage caused major disruption over much of the weekend.
A section of the southbound carriageway between Staygate and the Euroway Industrial Estate had to be resurfaced after a lorry carrying 10,000 litres of paint shed its load on Friday night.
A spokesman for Highways England said the M606 reopened at around 2.30am today.
The police, fire service, Highways England and the Environment Agency were all involved in the large-scale clean-up operation.
The Environment Agency is investigating the incident and monitoring the effect on local watercourses.
A spokesman said: "Anyone who sees any pollution in a watercourse is urged to report it to our incident hotline on 0800 807060 so we can investigate.”
