THE first campaign of a new partnership between Yorkshire Building Society and a homelessness charity will take place next month.

The Bradford-based society announced a three-year link with End Youth Homelessness earlier this week.

YBS aims to raise £750,000 throughout the partnership to support more than 700 homeless young people into rented accommodation.

End Youth Homelessness is a national movement to end homelessness among 16 to 25-year-olds in the UK, and works in Bradford with Centrepoint.

The first action day of the new partnership will take place in February across YBS’s branches.

During the action day, YBS staff will be raising money for the charity and also promoting the work that it undertakes.

The charity works with Centrepoint in Bradford to provide targeted local support for young vulnerable people in the district.

In addition to a home, young people supported by the charity will also receive practical help such as financial advice and help to build life skills and confidence.

YBS will take an active role in tackling the challenges faced by homeless young people and helping them achieve a brighter future.

Mike Regnier, chief executive of YBS, said: “We are proud to announce our new partnership with End Youth Homelessness.

“Over the next three years, we aim to break down the barriers that homeless young people face, through deepening understanding of youth homelessness issues, campaigning for social and public policy change as well as directly helping homeless young people live independently.

“This partnership is at the heart of what we do.

“As an organisation we pride ourselves on helping people become financially secure and achieve everything they can, including having a place to call home.”

The End Youth Homelessness movement was founded by Centrepoint in 2010 after the Duke of Cambridge, Prince William, the charity’s patron, challenged it to end youth homelessness.

Nick Connolly, director of End Youth Homelessness, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Yorkshire Building Society.”

End Youth Homelessness works with more than 15,000 young people every year, and was chosen by YBS following a vote by YBS staff and members.
