SNOW and blustery gales are causing delays and chaos on roads across the district this morning.
Motorists are being advised to allow extra time for journeys in the wintry weather.
Two cars have been badly damaged in a crash on an icy road in Idle.
A Seat Ibiza and a Nissan Qashqai have both been damaged in the crash in Ley Fleaks Road, which an onlooker described as being "covered in sheet ice".
There is heavy traffic on the Bingley bypass heading towards Bradford.
/>A crash involving three cars in the middle lane of the eastbound carriageway of Rooley Lane, near the Asda supermarket, was causing delays into Bradford at about 7am.
Elsewhere, there is heavy traffic on the A647 Sand Beds in Queensbury due to snow.
Traffic on the M62 is also slow and heavier than normal in the difficult conditions.
There is slow traffic in Hollingwood Lane, Great Horton, due to ice.
The Met Office has issued yellow weather warnings to the Bradford district for severe weather.
Strong winds with gusts of up to 40mph are expected throughout the day, and temperatures of just above freezing.
A number of schools are also being affected by the adverse weather.
St Matthew's Catholic Primary School in Allerton is closed today due to "dangerous icy conditions on Saffron Drive".
Oastler's School in East Bowling is also closed due to "disruption to transports due to severe weather".
Many other schools are opening later to allow staff and pupils extra time to get to school, with these decision being reviewed later.
