THE team which won Bradford the title of Britain’s Curry Capital for a record sixth year were today invited to City Hall for a civic reception in their honour.

Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Bradford, Councillor Geoff and Chris Reid, hosted the event for local restaurateurs, tourism bosses and others who had helped with the city’s entry into the annual contest.

Tricia Tillotson, tourism manager at Visit Bradford, said: “It has been an honour to receive an invitation to such a prestigious event by the Lord Mayor to celebrate the achievements and success of all those who helped to make the 2016 bid bigger and better than ever.”

Also at the event was Colleen Groves, whose late husband Peter founded the annual contest.

Other guests included Soraya Overend and Jacqueline Vicars from the under-threat Bradford Ministry of Food centre, who held a workshop for substance abuse programme Fresh Start 4 U as part of the city’s Curry Capital bid.
