PUPILS at Darul Uloom Dawatul school have delivered donations to St Columba's Food Bank in Tong Street, Bradford.
The children at the school, which is situated in nearby Harry Street, collected food as part of a project looking at good citizenship.
Joseph Yewdall, who helps to run the food bank, said: "It was a lovely and very welcome gesture from these wonderful young people who have shown a real awareness of the needs people have on their own doorstep."
Earlier this year the foodbank also received a £500 cheque from the former Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Joanne Dodds, for her Spread A Smile appeal during her year of office.
A group of parishioners was inspired to open the food bank at the start of this year after reading an article in the Telegraph & Argus about how a benefits freeze would hit more children in Bradford than almost anywhere else in the country.
The food bank has since grown to serve 300 people and hands out more than 900 parcels each month to people in Holme Wood, Tong, and Bierley.
It opens from 9am to 11.30am on Thursday and Saturdays.
