STUDENTS were given an insight into the Bradford Pals and the Battle of the Somme at a day-long project.
Beckfoot School’s year nine students remembered the events of 100 years ago.
The day saw students produce a profile on a member of the Bradford Pals each who fought at the Somme, which began on July 1, 1916 and is considered to be one of the bloodiest in human history with well over a million dead or wounded by the time it ended in November that year.
Tricia Platts, secretary of the Bradford World War One Group, and Kathryn Hughes, the Bradford Bulls’ heritage officer, held talks during the day.
Teacher Carly Moran said: “It was quite a powerful experience for the students.”
