Escapologist Antony Britton is getting fired up for his latest world-record beating stunt.

Next month the Bradford-born daredevil will make an attempt to beat the record for the longest distance fully body burn run.

Mr Britton will be doused in petrol which will be set alight as he attempts to run as far as he can before crew members put the flames out using extinguishers.

He will be wearing three pairs of overalls and several balaclavas but he will not be using an oxygen supply during the daredevil stunt which will happen before crowds at a fireworks display on Friday, November 4, at Wandle Park, Croydon, south London.

Money raised from the stunt will be split between mental health charity Mind and Hope House, a respite care facility for with life-limiting conditions. “This attempt is something different for me but I’m ready for it!” he said. His stunt adviser Mark Stannage, of Stannage International, already has an engagement in the area so he is having to carry out his record attempt down South away from home which is now in Linthwaite near Huddersfield.

The Guinness world record was first set by photographer and amateur stuntman Keith Malcolm back in 2009 in Hampshire before American stuntman Ted Batchelor broke the record in 2011 with a distance of 161.27 metres in December, 2013.

“We have had a couple of test runs to see how it feels and it’s been rather hot to say the least but I’m confident I will beat the world record and bring it back to British soil,” said Mr Britton who went to Beckfoot School and was brought up in Saltaire.
