LATEST UPDATE:

TWO vehicles have been involved in what has been described as a head-on collision causing traffic chaos in Keighley Road.

A lorry and a car were involved in the collision, which happened near Bradford Grammar School and Lister Park at around 2.45pm.

A spokesman for the West Yorkshire Ambulance Service said one person was taken to Bradford Royal Infirmary but was unable to give any more information at this time.

An eyewitness said: “A lorry and a car have been in a head-on crash.

“The front of the lorry is smashed in and the car is strewn across the other side of the road.

“It has caused traffic chaos.”

The man said fire engines were on the scene.

Another onlooker said: “There is what looks like a silver Vauxhall Corsa facing a wall on the wrong side of the road, on the other side is a white DAF lorry carrying a load for Nisa.

“Traffic has been stopped about 300 yards from the crash and is being turned around by police.

“There are two police vans and one unmarked car at the scene, and an ambulance left at around 3.20pm.

“The fire engines have also left too."

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: “There was a call from the ambulance at 2.48pm for a collision between a car and a lorry and the fire service attended to deal with a fuel leak, and Keighley Road was closed from the junctions with Frizinghall Road to Cunliffe Road.”

An ambulance service spokesman said one person had been taken to hospital but had no information on their injuries.

The road was closed until 8pm.
