THE importance of having the flu vaccination was promoted by Manor Medical Practice today through an initiative organised by the Patient Participation Group.

The promotion took place at a flu clinic at the Girlington Health Centre venue and supported by healthy living centre Cafe West and Carers’ Resource to help promote self-help.

The vaccine helps protect those vulnerable to serious flu illness such as pregnant women, babies and young children, the elderly and people suffering from certain chronic health conditions. It is regarded as an important preventative tool.

“We had a wonderful response with around 100 people attending," said chairman of the PPG Rafiq Sehgal, who also had his flu vaccination at the promotion.

“The flu jab helps promote preventative care which not only helps stop people suffering unnecessarily, but also helps to avoid additional strain on the NHS caused by flu-related complications.”
