A DRUNKEN man who confronted his neighbour with a kitchen knife has avoided being sent to jail.
Peter Turner, 42, became involved in an argument with Mark Glover outside an address on Englefield Crescent, Bradford, on the evening of September 16.
Prosecutor Richard Davies told Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court that Turner, of Felcourt Drive, had rushed at Mr Glover with the knife shouting: “What’s your problem? I’m going to kill you.”
He told police he had the butter knife in his hand as he was inside his house making sandwiches before the incident occurred.
He pleaded guilty to a charge of possessing a bladed article in a public place.
District Judge Richard Clews said: “You can’t take knives out of the house and threaten people.”
Turner was sentenced to four months in prison, suspended for a year, given a two-month curfew from 8pm to 6pm, and ordered to pay a £115 surcharge and £85 costs.
