A FATHER has told of his anger after capturing a driver on video doing up to 60mph on a residential street where his son has a paper round.

In the footage, a Vauxhall Insignia can be seen speeding along Abb Scott Lane, Low Moor, on the wrong side of the road, going round a roundabout the wrong way, overtaking an Audi and causing other vehicles to take evasive action.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus: A speeding Vauxhall Insignia is captured on the wrong side of Abb Scott Lane in Low Moor, Bradford

Dave McCue said: “I’m particularly incensed by this piece of dangerous driving because this is the route my son, Declan, has to take on his paper round when delivering the Telegraph & Argus.”

He added: “Based on how quickly it [the Insignia] overtook the other car, I would say he [the driver] was easily doing twice the speed of the Audi - between 50 and 60mph.

“He clearly had no regard for the safety of the driver in a van approaching him, either, who had to brake to avoid a collision. He continued down the road overtaking two other cars over the speed bumps to push to the front of the traffic before turning right towards Brighouse.

“I’d love to speak to that driver and ask him how he’d feel if someone drove like that past one of his loved ones. Anyone crossing the road wouldn’t have looked to the left and could quite easily have stepped out in front of him whilst he was on the wrong side of the road.

“ My son, 16, has to cross Huddersfield Road and Abb Scott Lane as part of his round, although my wife and I try to deliver the papers up there for him whenever we can precisely because of driving like this.”

The footage, which was taken on Saturday, October 8, at about 9.15am, has been passed to West Yorkshire Police for investigation.
