A MAN with an “appalling” record for violence was jailed for a year after breaking a man’s cheekbone in a Bradford pub.
Bradford Crown Court heard today that Christopher Johnson, 36, of Crook Farm caravan park, Baildon, was in the Monkey with his wife when the complainant, Trevor Morris, entered with a friend.
The court heard there was a history between Johnson and Mr Morris. The defendant’s wife shouted, swore and gesticulated at Mr Morris. Johnson then walked up and threw a single punch out of the blue which struck the complainant in the face.
Mr Morris needed surgery for a complex fracture.
Judge Jonathan Rose told Johnson: “What you did was an act of brutality.
“I understand there is a background. It does not justify at all what you did. You attacked this man with all the force you could muster.”
