A PAIR of artists from the world-famous Aardman Animations, creators of Wallace and Gromit, are at Bradford’s National Media Museum (NMM) tonight as part of the venue’s 'Lates' event, based on faces and expressions.

Jay Clarke and Jim Parkyn will run workshops in how to draw and sculpt some of the studio’s best-known characters.

Mr Clarke, who will run a drawing workshop, said: “Aardman are well-known for getting their characters out through expressions.

"We’ve been brought it to try and pass on a few tricks of the trade.”

Mr Parkyn, who will be getting visitors to make clay models of the studio's characters from 'Creature Comforts', said: “When you have characters who don’t speak, it’s all to do with the eyebrows, the ears, and with Wallace, that famous coathanger smile.

"The expressions bring pathos and humour. We’re hopefully going to get people to recreate that magic for themselves with drawings and in clay as well.”

The free event runs from 6.30pm to 9.30pm, and the pair will be back at the NMM over October half-term to run a series of similar workshops for families and children.
