Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division: Albion Sports 3 Parkgate 0

ALBION Sports hauled themselves above Thackley last night into third place.

The Lions bounced back from Saturday’s disappointing home defeat with a comprehensive win over a Parkgate side that remain deep in relegation trouble in second from bottom.

Albion got off to a great start as Karl Hall broke the deadlock in the fifth minute, and when Rhys Jenkinson added the home side’s second goal after just 12 minutes a landslide victory seemed to be on the cards.

However, after totally dominating the first half, the second period was a bit flat, and Albion had to wait until 15 minutes from time for Danny Facey to add a third.

The Lions now only trail second-placed Cleethorpes Town by goal difference only and are one point off Liversedge at the summit.

Campion also enjoyed a home win in Division One as they claimed a victory after five games without a win.

Mark Bett and Eli Hey both scored in the first half and, although visitors Nostell MW hit back through Steve Smith late on, there was still time for Bett to claim his second and restore the home side’s two-goal cushion as they ran out 3-1 winners.

The three points saw James Bicknell’s side also climb above a local rival as well they leapt up to ninth.

However, Campion are only ahead of Eccleshill United on goal difference and have played one game more.
