A DERELICT Victorian hotel and pub will become an apartment building, after conversion plans were approved by Bradford Council.

S2J Developments submitted plans to convert the Prospect Hotel (pictured) in Bolton Road, Bradford, into five one bedroom flats and three two bedroom flats earlier this summer.

The application has now been approved by planning officers.

The re-development also includes the construction of mansard roof, removal of an external staircase, a single-storey side extension, alteration to rear windows, creation of a balcony area and a 10 space car park for residents.

Planning officers said: "Because the site is unallocated and within walking distance of the city centre the scheme is considered to be acceptable in principle."

Plans to demolish the building and build houses in its place were approved by the council in 2012, but the demolition never went ahead.
