A MAN who groped three members of staff at a Bradford mental health facility has been ordered to remain in hospital.

Saidul Islam, 26, also grabbed a 17 year-old girl and tried to kiss her in the doorway of Britannia House in Bradford city centre.

When asked by police to explain his actions, he was said to have claimed it was “Jimmy Savile dressed as him” who had committed the offending.

Islam, of New Cross Street, West Bowling, had already pleaded guilty to four charges of sexual assault prior to his hearing at Bradford Crown Court.

Prosecutor Sohail Khan told the court that the girl had been waiting for a bus in Bradford on the evening of February 24 this year when she was approached by Islam.

He grabbed her shoulders and asked her for a kiss, trying to stuff a £10 note up her sleeve as she tried to get away.

A woman intervened and Islam ran off, with both parties later reporting the incident to police, the defendant falsely claiming he had been robbed.

Islam was later admitted to the Lynfield Mount hospital in Bradford for his mental state to be assessed.

On March 14, he assaulted a fellow patient during a coffee morning, grabbing her breast before she pushed him away. He later stroked the neck and cheek of a nurse, also using both hands to fondle her bottom as she bent down to pick up his phone.

On the same day, he grabbed and kissed the hand of an occupational therapist, saying: “You’ve got my DNA on you now.”

As she washed her hands at a sink, he proceeded to “press his crotch into her buttocks” and ask whether she fancied him.

After his arrest, Mr Khan said Islam told police: “He said it was Jimmy Savile dressed as him who had touched those people.”

Mark Brookes, for Islam, said his client had recently undergone two psychiatric reports that recommended the imposition of a hospital order.

The order was granted by Judge Jonathan Rose, who told Islam: “You are suffering from a mental illness that requires hospital treatment.

“I am concerned you pose a serious risk to people.”
