THE University of Bradford has been ranked fifth best in Yorkshire in a new guide.

The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2017 was released today, and reveals that the university was fifth out of the county's 10 universities, and 76th out of the 123 universities nationwide.

It is a slight fall from last year, when the university was ranked 75th.

In Yorkshire it falls behind the universities of Leeds (13th nationally), York, Sheffield and Hull, and ahead of Huddersfield (77th nationally, down from 69th last year), Sheffield Hallam, Leeds Trinity, York St John and Leeds Beckett.

A spokesman for the university said: "The University of Bradford continues to be one of the region’s leading institutions, where students not only enjoy a great, fulfilling experience but emerge with impressive qualifications and bright prospects.

"2016 has continued to be a strong year for the university, with national recognition in a variety of respected league tables for the institution as a whole and for our courses, together with our receiving a Queen’s Anniversary Prize, and we continue to be a popular choice for students."

The guide also reveals that the university had a 84 per cent completion rate.
