TELEGRAPH & Argus readers and have sent photographs and video of fork lightning as it lit up the Bradford sky tonight.

Matt Kerins captured a shot of lightning over Wyke, and Aiden Oddish Kitson snapped a shot over Bierley, while Haris Farooq and Umair Malik caught the lightning on camera in Heaton Bradford.

Reader Christopher Lane's moody picture shows the storm clouds gathering over the fields of Thornton, and Gemma Breese captured the height of the lightning storm in a slow-motion video shot from Shipley.

Reader Basil Parylo caught on camera lightning over Bingley. He said: "It took 64 shots with a 10-second exposure just to capture one lightning strike!"

Julie Lynch from Woodside, Bradford, who managed to snap some of the lightning strikes, said the storm was "incredible to watch".

Meanwhile, T&A photographer Mike Simmonds captured a series of shots over Shipley.

The Met Office had earlier warned of flash flooding and issued a yellow weather warning for scattered downpours of torrential rain and thunderstorms, after the region enjoyed a day of hot and humid weather.

The storm passed over quickly with no reports of damage.
