Police have formally identified a man who died in Bradford on Monday evening.

Dainius Dobrovolskis, aged 41, died as a result of head injuries.

His partner, a 35-year old woman, is due to appear at Bradford Magistrates Court this morning charged with Mr Dobrovolskis murder.

Neighbours told how the suspect, who is believed to be of Latvian origin, came running out of the house, in Stephenson Street, Great Horton, in tears as emergency services arrived on the scene.

They told how the couple, who are both thought to be from eastern Europe, had a volatile relationship, frequently arguing after drinking.

West Yorkshire Police started a murder investigation after the man’s body was discovered at the address on Monday evening.

The woman was arrested at the scene.

Police only released details today about the murder investigation.

A Force spokesman said the victim, who was in his 40s, was found by ambulance staff shortly before 8pm on Monday.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police were alerted by the ambulance service.

Neighbours said they had heard the victim had died from multiple stab wounds.

But the police spokesman said a post-mortem examination has since confirmed that the man died of a head injury.

The spokesman added: “A 35-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.”

The woman has been named locally as Baiba Andersone.

Police have not named the victim as he has not yet been formally identified.

It is understood officers are having difficulty contacting next of kin.

Neighbours said police and paramedics arrived at the scene at about 7.40pm on Monday.

One resident, Becky Whiteley, said: “They usually make lots of noise but on Monday it was really quiet, which was a bit strange.

“I was sat in my garden. He always used to shout through the window, telling me to be quiet, but we heard nothing from them that day.

“My neighbour said she heard a massive thud at about 2.30pm from the house, but then no-one heard anything from them.

“When she came out of the house she was crying, but then when they started searching her she was laughing manically."

Another resident, Lisa Pollard, said: “It worries me that this has happened so close to home, it’s the kind of thing you see on TV, not on your doorstep.”

A third neighbour, who asked not to be named, said: “This has made me very afraid for my family, I used to let my children play outside in the street but now I will be keeping them indoors.

Another neighbour said: “When the ambulance and police turned up the woman came running out of the house in tears and was sitting crying in the police car.

“Their next door neighbour used to speak to my mother and she would always say she could hear them shouting and fighting every night.

"Every night they would get drunk and argue.”
