AN engineering company which recently completed further expansion at its West Yorkshire base is also building a presence overseas.

Keighley-based clamp manufacturer Teconnex, which is on track for a record £39 million turnover this year, has established a presence in China and is also opening a new manufacturing site in Mexico.

The company also plans to further expand the Keighley factory to increase manufacturing capacity. Two years ago Teconnex, which has more than 400 employees, invested around £2 million expanding its 90,000 sq ft Chesham Street base and more recently completed a new global technical and test centre, office and administrative block.

New warehousing and manufacturing facilities have also been added in readiness for additional business .

In 2015 Teconnex introduced US software EPICOR to boost efficiency, foster teamwork through personalised systems for most staff and more transparent workload management .

Within a year Teconnex has reduced the amount of time required to complete processes by between 50 per cent and 75 per cent and is expecting further improvements .

EPICOR has also enabled Teconnex to achieve a greener, mostly paperless operations system.

Paul Sleaford, managing director, said: “Big congratulations to the EPICOR project team and everyone who contributed to this momentous step forward in driving through business efficiencies.

“ As a business we continue to support personal development and company improvements alike. We all need to continuously develop ourselves and what we do here at Teconnex.”

Teconnex, Keighley’s largest private sector employer, was founded as a part of the Hexadex Group in 1997 following the merger of two local clamp manufacturers, Smith & Johnson and Connectors Limited.

Teconnex operates in sectors including automotive, locomotive, marine, aerospace, power generation, filtration, food, pharmaceutical and defence .

More than 80 per cent of its products are exported to Europe, the USA, South America, the Far East and Australia.
