A BUS driver who has already raised £40,000 for Marie Curie is preparing for his latest trek to Costa Rica.
Ron Hiley will be 70 when to takes on his latest challenge.
It started when a friend of his was cared for at the Marie Curie Hospice in Bradford.
He signed up to his first overseas event, the Great 500 Cycle Challenge at the age of 59, and has completed a major challenge almost every year since for Marie Curie, encouraging friends, colleagues and family to join him.
Mr Hiley, of Bradford, said: “I’d really enjoyed raising money for good causes in the past, and I didn’t think there was a more important cause than this one.
“I thought my first challenge was going to be it. Now I’ve done ten events for Marie Curie, and I’ve just signed up to the Costa Rica Trek in 2017 and I’ll be 70 by the time we leave the UK.”
The trek takes place in November. Anyone else interested in taking part should contact Sharon Link on 01274 386190 or email her at sharon.link@mariecurie.org.uk for more information..
