A THREE-year-old boy injured in a crash on Friday night remains in a serious condition, according to police.

The crash happened on Stanley Road at the junction of Poplars Park Road in Frizinghall just after 8.10pm.

The incident happened when a green BMW 335 coupe and silver Vauxhall Astra crashed at a set of temporary traffic lights. 

The boy, a passenger in the Astra, was taken to Leeds General Infirmary with serious injuries.

Police said this morning that the boy was still in a "serious, but stable" condition.

Four other passengers, including the driver, in the Astra were left with minor injuries. 

Police want to speak to anyone who witnessed the crash or anyone who saw either car prior to it.

An 18 year old man was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He has since been bailed
