FIREFIGHTERS dealt with a blaze that started in the bedroom of a house in Windhill last night.
Crews from Idle and Shipley were called to Vicarage Road at 10.10pm after reports of a blaze in the upper floor of a house.
When they arrived they found that a fierce fire had started in a bedroom and two adults living in the property were attempting to put it out.
The fire destroyed the room, and left much of the first floor smoke damaged.
One person was given oxygen at the scene after they suffered smoke inhalation.
There were no working smoke detectors in the house, and Shipley station watch commander Chris Burke said it was important people regularly checked their smoke detectors to make sure they are still working.
