THE Bradford district will be bustling this weekend, with several fun, family events taking place, including beer festivals and charity fun days.

Tomorrow, the annual Brighouse Canal, Beer & Music Festival will take over the town centre for the weekend, with lots of activities going on throughout the day.

Boats will fill the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, which runs through the town, with boat trips up and down the waterway running across the weekend.

There will also be a market, beer festival, and live music in the town throughout the two days, with activities beginning at around 11am on both days.

Family fun days will be taking place tomorrow at Odsal Fire Station from noon to 4pm and at the West Bowling Centre from 11am.

There will be demonstrations, emergency vehicles and a range of activities at the station in Huddersfield Road.

Peacemakers International are holding the fun day in Clipstone Street, West Bowling, which will be officially opened by the Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Geoff Reid, at 1pm.

A Beer and Banger festival is taking place in Eldwick Memorial Hall in Otley Road today and tomorrow, to raise money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

It takes place from 5pm to 11pm today and 2pm to 11pm tomorrow.

Tickets cost £5, which includes a festival glass and a free pint of ale, and are available from the Eldwick Post Office and Birches Freehouse pub.

Kildwick Scarecrow festival starts tomorrow, with a variety of scarecrows on show in the village across the weekend.

Peels on Wheels, a free cycling event, takes place in Peel Park tomorrow from 1pm, with a variety of bikes available for people to ride on a four-mile course.

Burley Summer Festival begins tomorrow, with a dog show in the recreation ground in York Road from 10am to 3pm, a cricket match at Burley CC from 1pm, and a steam rally at The Generous Pioneer in Ilkley Road from 4pm.

On Sunday, a fundraising event to commemorate the bicentenary of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal is taking place at Apperley Bridge Marina.

The event will run from 11am to 4pm, and attractions will include free boat rides, a barbecue and a bouncy castle, with all proceeds from the day going to the Martin House Hospice.

Also on Sunday is the Mirfield Agricultural Show at Mirfield Showground in Huddersfield Road, which will take place from 7.30am to 4.30pm.

There will be a wide array of attractions and entertainment available, including a horse and pony show, llama displays, games and stalls, and a banana-eating competition.
