A PROLIFIC fundraiser who has raised thousands of pounds for the Bradford Burns Unit will tackle the Yorkshire Three Peaks for his next charity challenge.

Jamie Boyle is preparing for what will be his fifth activity or event in aid of good causes this year.

The 37-year-old, of Low Moor, is doing the Three Peaks on Sunday, August 28, in aid of Heartbeat for Sport.

He said money raised would go towards buying defibrillators and training people in the use of them.

On the challenge, he said: “I am not a fit athlete. I am just an average bloke – I am a Homer Simpson.

“It is a challenge for me to do this. If it was easy I wouldn’t be doing it.”

Mr Boyle said it costs about £1,200 for a defibrillator and training someone to use one.

“There’s 20 to 30 of us doing it, so we will hopefully raise quite a bit,” he said. “If we can each raise £150 then that would make a decent amount.”

Mr Boyle, who suffers from a blood disorder, recently raised £585 for Macmillan by cycling 515 miles around Yorkshire.

“I had set a target of £500, so I was happy with that,” said Mr Boyle.

On the ride, he added: “It was tough – it absolutely killed me.

“I went through three bikes. But it was worth it.”

Mr Boyle raised more than £10,000 for the Bradford Burns Unit by selling commemorative hooded tops, T-shirts, polo shirts and beanie hats to mark the 30th anniversary of the Bradford City fire disaster.

His other fundraising exploits this year included a question and answer session featuring Bantams legend Bobby Campbell, in aid of the burns unit, a sleep-out for the Homeless Hampers campaign, and a press-up challenge to help raise awareness of post-traumatic stress disorder.

“If I can inspire people to do something good and give something back, then I have done something with my life,” said Mr Boyle.

“It just gives me a positive outlook on life. There are so many good people from Bradford that are doing stuff for different charities.

“I just look on my Facebook and see people stepping up to the plate and think ‘wow’.
