A MAN who pelted police with slates from the roof of a house in Bradford has been sent to prison.

Daniel Hall, 28, formerly of Tyersal Crescent, Tyersal, Bradford, appeared at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates Court today after police charged him with three offences of criminal damage. He was jailed for six months.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said Hall had been charged with three separate offences of damage, relating to eight police vehicles, four properties and two vehicles belonging to members of the public. The total value of the damage was not available.

Police were involved in a stand off with Hall for most of Thursday after he went on to the rooves of houses in Westminster Terrace, Undercliffe.

He hurled slates from the roof at police officers and vehicles below as negotiators tried to resolve the situation.

A crowd of more than 100 people gathered during the incident and some youths threw rocks and eggs at officers trying to deal with the situation.
