A FUN junior football tournament in memory of a coach who died from leukaemia has raised more than £1,500 for the Marie Curie Hospice in Bradford.

Guiseley Juniors Under Eights football teams took park in a tribute to much-missed coach Rob Butt earlier this month and monies have now been collected.

The 35 boys involved all donated to participate in the tournament and wore t-shirts which read Playing for Rob@ on them.

There was a raffle with prizes, including a signed Manchester City football.

The tournament commemorated the contribution made by Mr Butt who died last September.

One of the organisers Jenny Davies said on behalf of the club: "His courage and spirit inspired the boys and existing volunteers to raise money for Marie Curie which supported Rob and his family towards the end.

"We are thankful to everyone who supported the event including Larkfield Engraving of Rawdon who kindly donated the medals."
