FIREFIGHTERS feared a woman could be trapped in a house fire which broke out overnight in Keighley.
A crew from Bingley fire station were called to the scene of the fire, in the living room of an end terrace in Lawkholme Lane, Keighley at around 4.30pm.
When they got there, they were told a woman lived in the house, so called for backup from Silsden and Keighley fire stations.
Bingley watch commander Al MacLellan said: “It turned out that it was an empty property after a search of upstairs by breathing apparatus crews.
“The occupier had left the building at around 2.30am, but we didn’t know that. We were told that a lady lived in the property so we erred on the side of caution.”
The teams spent around two hours putting out the fire, which was centred around a sofa.
Its cause is still under investigation.
