PATRIOTIC people have been urged to vote for their favourite emoji to mark Yorkshire Day on Monday, August 1.
Five Yorkshire-inspired emojis, a Yorkshire pudding, flat cap, a Yorkshire Terrier, white rose and pot of tea with a teacosy, will battle it out in a public vote from telephone and broadband company Plusnet.
Yorkshire Day was first celebrated in 1975 by the Yorkshire Ridings Society to promote the county.
To vote for your favourite emoji, which are used by people in text and online messages, go to Plusnet's Facebook and Twitter channels at Facebook.com/Plusnet or @Plusnet.
The emoji with the most votes will be announced on Yorkshire Day and submitted to the Unicode Consortium for inclusion on the Android and iPhone keyboards.
